Firstly,
thanks to Trevor for the following 3 news articles.
Apparently the leading contender for a Buffy spinoff over at
UPN is Willow, Centered [on] Alyson Hannigan's character. Faith
The Vampire Slayer was the leading contender, but since Eliza
Dushku jumped ship, this was their next best idea. UPN is apparently
hoping for [an autumn]l launch [in the US], with other assorted
Buffy regulars on board.

It
sounds like everyone and his brother has, at one point or another,
been up for the role of Superman. This week yet another name
is tossed around. The rumor states that 32-year old Angel star
David Boreanaz has been offered $30 million for a three-picture
deal to star as the Last Son of Krypton. Apparently this 'news'
broke in the Daily Express newspaper, which went on to quote
Boreanaz as saying, "It's going to be hard to be both Angel
and Superman."

Finally,
the guy that wrote Dog Soldiers, Neil Marshall, might have a
go at writing Alien 5...
Not surprisingly - considering
how closely "Dog Soldiers" resembles it - Marshall
would like to have a go at writing or directing one of the Aliens
sequels. He actually wrote a treatment for Alien 3, but it went
unused. He says he thinks the story could easily pass off for
the next movie. "They go back to the original planet from
the first film where they discover more eggs on the spacecraft
and so have to rescue the people back there", he says.
"You never know, it might be used for a future one".
But Marshall says the last
"Alien" movie deterred his interest in the series
temporarily. "They just lost the plot with Alien Resurrection",
he says. "But I'm fascinated with the mythology and character
of the Alien and part of me would love to do an Alien film one
day. Not an "Aliens vs
Predator" - that'll just be a smash-em up movie that'll
get the kids in. It'll have no great story - but a return to
the original".

Well check out the

with an accessory, such as Jonny with Razzle, Humphrey with
mushrooms and ginger beer and Rita with an Angora beret.

seems like a good choice for the part of the blue-skinned German
acrobatic priest; and although I would have loved to have seen
Embry in the role, i'm sure Cumming will carry off the accent
better.

We were all hoping
and praying that George Lucas might actually listen to Star
Wars fans for once in his hairy-faced life - but it seems that
he considers ignorance to be bliss once more as he reveals that
the original versions of the first star wars trilogy will most
likely not be appearing on the DVDs.
Click
here for more on the subject. There is also a link to an
online petition. I've never bothered with them before, but I
had to at least try on this subject.

Tomahawk and ex-Faith
No More singer, Mike Patton will be featuring as vocalist on
the new ep from The Dillinger Escape Plan in August.
The singer told Kerrang!: "I have to take my hat off to
Dillinger Escape Plan. They toured with Mr Bungle a couple of
years ago. I was into the idea of a weird one-off collaboration.
Most music is wallpaper. Nobody is taking any chances because
they're too afraid of looking like pussies."

Just some quick
music news:
Trent Reznor is once again to supply the music for id software.
NIN music will feature in the forthcoming 'Doom III'.
And Pitchshifter guitarist, Jim Davies, having been a long time
collaborator with them, has joined Prodigy fulltime. Davies
has not left Pitchshifter though and at the moment the two bands'
work doesn't clash.

Ethan Embry (Can't
Hardly Wait, Emprie Records, Freakylinks) has been cast to play
Nightcrawler in X², the sequel to 2000's X-Men. Also joining
him is newcomer Aaron Stanford who'll be playing British superfiend,
Pyro. We're big fans of Mr. Embry here; I just hope the German
accent won't be too cringeworthy.

There is also a pack shot of the Australian version of the set,
